Very often over all my works, snow and mountains are a constant presence, like a fil rouge keeping all tight together. This album takes freely inspiration from these topics, my home land Ticino and the book “L’Anno della Valanga” (“The Year of the Avalance”) by Giacomo Orelli.
L’Anno della Valanga (cut-up by JG).
Non la smette di cacciarne giù. [...]
[…] Una valanga non è roba da scherzare.”
It won't stop falling down. [...] The village is by now a prison [...] Have we all already got used to the avalanche suspended above the village? Maybe, it doesn't even want to kill us, just keep us prisoner here. […] Now, none of us look at the mountain; someone fears that even breathing too hard will strike the moraine next to us, that, if it gives way, a handful of snow would cause other fall, billions and billions of grains one on top of the other, like an endless game of dominoes: from the grain of snow to the mountain.
[...] An old man spitting in the snow: "Bravo, do you really think the avalanche is on studying the calendar and asking us if it can come yes or no. [...] as we move towards spring, the avalanche will descend everywhere. […] An avalanche is no joke.”

Brilliant exploration in minimalism. The drone and spread make this a great album to come back to and reflect on openings in ourselves and the world we exist in. L.N. Quinn
